An established construction company, in business for more than 30 years, seeks to raise the bar in our office and establish an administrative function that is capable of supporting our company's future growth. The ideal candidate must be capable of identifying and correcting a wide range of business problems proactively; we're looking for a hands on problem solver. Our controller must have a strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting but they also need to be a well rounded business person capable of working with and managing our administrative team. The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving skills, an outstanding work ethic, great people and communication skills, a passion for the construction industry, and excellent accounting and finance skills.
Controller Job Duties:
Guides business decisions and daily work of staff by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
Prepares weekly payroll and manages all payroll related elements; quarterly and annual tax filings, workers compensation, unemployment, etc.
Prepares sales tax filings and ensures compliance with all related government regulations
Validates accounts payable data, prepares bi-monthly check runs, and ensures the timely payment of all vendor obligations
Manages the accounts receivable and ensures that all customer invoices are prepared, accurate, and delivered on a timely basis each month
Manages the collections process and ensures that staff are meeting expectations with regards to collecting on past due accounts
Establishes budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
Prepares the monthly accounting close and provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions
Manages administrative staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting
3-5 years of experience, construction industry experience preferred
Experience with Viewpoint construction software is a huge plus
CMA, CPA or other advanced certifications are a plus

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
